Choosing care is one of the biggest decisions a family makes. Here's what families most want to know — answered plainly, including the question other agencies avoid: cost.

How much does home care cost in Philadelphia?+

Our standard rate is $45 an hour, with a four-hour minimum per visit. Specialty care with an HHA-certified or bilingual caregiver is $48 an hour. You get the number in writing after a free in-home consultation.

No long-term contracts. No hidden fees. Every charge, including the deposit, is in writing before you commit.

How quickly can care begin?+

We aim to start within a few days of the in-home consultation. If a hospital discharge is coming, tell us the date on the first call and we will tell you right away whether we can staff it.

Are your caregivers employees or independent contractors?+

Employees — always. Every Rittenhouse caregiver is a W-2 employee who is insured, bonded, and covered by workers' compensation. Many agencies and registries use 1099 contractors, which shifts liability and tax risk onto your family. We never do.

Starting pay of $19 an hour, weekly paychecks, and consistent client matching are how we keep caregivers, so your loved one sees the same face week after week.

How are caregivers screened and trained?+

Every caregiver passes Pennsylvania State Police and child abuse clearances, FBI fingerprinting where required, TB screening, reference checks, and an in-person interview before entering a home, then completes paid training, including Pennsylvania OLTL courses and dementia-care training.

Does Medicare pay for home care?+

Original Medicare generally does not cover non-medical home care like ours. Most families use private pay, long-term care insurance, or — for Veterans and surviving spouses — the VA Aid & Attendance benefit, which many eligible families don't know they qualify for.

What is the Care Audit Report?+

Our signature commitment to transparency. Every month, your family receives a plain-English report of the care delivered — every shift, tasks completed, caregiver observations, and any changes we recommend. You should never have to wonder what happened while you weren't there.

What if the caregiver isn't the right fit?+

Tell your care coordinator and we'll rematch you promptly, at no charge. Chemistry matters as much as competence — we don't consider a match successful until your loved one genuinely looks forward to their caregiver's arrival.
